On January 24th, The LAB and The CAMP held its first “Chalk-Off,” a sidewalk chalk art contest that took over the concrete pathways winding among both properties. Participants colored up marked areas with their own creative thoughts and messages for a chance to win gift cards to LAB and CAMP retailers including SEED People’s Market, Old Vine Café, Buffalo Exchange and Bundles and Bumps. After judging some impressive artistic talent, the finalists were chosen and rewarded. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Where do you live? Irvine, CA. But I'm originally from Torrance, CA by Redondo Beach :)
Where do you hang out? Anywhere in the OC area; I love hanging out in Costa Mesa because it seems that there are usually a lot more things to do!
How long have you been a customer of the LAB/CAMP? I only found out about LAB/CAMP when I came to Irvine for school (at UCI) so it's only been 3 years.
Do you have a favorite store or restaurant at the LAB/CAMP? I LOVE Native Foods Cafe! It's only been a couple of months since I found out about it, but I'm already racking up so much member points since I go so often. I also like SEED, so it's good thing that I won the gift card through this art contest. I really like Buffalo Exchange as well!
What do you do? Work, hobbies? I'm a Starbucks Barista on campus! My hobbies.. listening to music, doodling, going to the beach.
Are you an artist? Yup, I'm an Art major at UCI.
What is your favorite medium to work with? I'm not quite sure yet. I've tried lots of different mediums and so far, I think I like charcoal and ink the best. But we'll see.
Check out some of Rina’s artwork! |
